Fluffy Rice

Cooking rice this way will give you fluffy, sticky rice just like you’d get at a restaurant!

Ingredients

  • 1.5 cups white rice
  • 2 cups water

Process

  1. Rinse the rice: put the rice into a mesh strainer and rinse it thoroughly with cold water.
  2. Bathe the rice: soak the rice in a bath of cold water for 10 minutes or so. Drain the water, then soak the rice in another rice bath. Drain it again, and soak the rice in a final bath of cold water for 2 hours or more (up to 24 hours).
  3. Drain the rice. Add the 2 cups of water to a medium-sized saucepan with a tight-fitting lid, and then add the rice.
  4. Turn the heat to high. Let the rice come to a boil.
  5. Boil the rice for five minutes. Turn the heat to low for five more minutes, and then turn the heat off. Leave the rice on the burner for a further ten minutes. Do not touch, stir, or otherwise engage with the rice.
  6. Gently flip the rice over with a large wooden spoon, then serve! The rice will be sticky and delicious.
