Cooking rice this way will give you fluffy, sticky rice just like you’d get at a restaurant!
Ingredients
- 1.5 cups white rice
- 2 cups water
Process
- Rinse the rice: put the rice into a mesh strainer and rinse it thoroughly with cold water.
- Bathe the rice: soak the rice in a bath of cold water for 10 minutes or so. Drain the water, then soak the rice in another rice bath. Drain it again, and soak the rice in a final bath of cold water for 2 hours or more (up to 24 hours).
- Drain the rice. Add the 2 cups of water to a medium-sized saucepan with a tight-fitting lid, and then add the rice.
- Turn the heat to high. Let the rice come to a boil.
- Boil the rice for five minutes. Turn the heat to low for five more minutes, and then turn the heat off. Leave the rice on the burner for a further ten minutes. Do not touch, stir, or otherwise engage with the rice.
- Gently flip the rice over with a large wooden spoon, then serve! The rice will be sticky and delicious.
