Spicy Italian Sausage Bowties


Sausage. Pasta. Tomato-and-cream sauce. What more can I say?

Ingredients

  • 12 oz. bow tie pasta
  • 2 tbsp. olive oil
  • 1 pound Italian sausage
  • 1/2 tsp. red pepper flakes
  • 1/2 yellow onion, diced
  • 4 cloves minced garlic
  • 28 oz. crushed tomatoes
  • 1 1/2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup spinach leaves

Process

  1. Put on a large pot of salted water and boil it. Add the bowties and cook until they are done, about 10 minutes. While the pasta cooks:
  2. Add the olive oil to a large skillet and heat it over medium heat. Add the Italian sausage and the red pepper flakes and cook until the sausage is browned. Add the onion and garlic and cook until the onion is translucent.
  3. Add the tomatoes and heavy cream to the skillet. Simmer until the mix thickens, about ten minutes.
  4. Add the spinach and cook for about two minutes.
  5. Add the cooked pasta and stir to mix.
  6. Serve and enjoy!
