Ham and Cheese Sliders

In the long and heavy days after Thanksgiving, as we rest and digest and curse ourselves for our overindulgences, many of us survive on plates of leftovers. Among our leftovers, we have thick slices of ham and dinner rolls — perfect for making sliders!

Ingredients

  • 12 Kings Hawaiian dinner rolls (other rolls are fine but these are the best.)
  • 1 pound of ham, either leftovers or fresh deli ham
  • Sliced or shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Sliced or shredded provolone cheese
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Process

  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees and spray an 11-inch rectangular baking pan with your preferred kitchen lubricant.
  2. Taking the slab of rolls from the package, slice them open so you have a top slab and a bottom slab. Don’t separate the rolls.
  3. Place the bottom slab in the pan, then add a layer of provolone slices. Then place a layer of ham, and top with a layer of mozzarella.
  4. Place the top slab on top.
  5. Mix the melted butter, worcestershire sauce, garlic, and salt and pepper in a bowl, then brush it on top of the rolls.
  6. Cover loosely with foil. Bake for 15 minutes, then remove the foil and bake another 10 minutes.
  7. Let the sliders cool for two to three minutes, then cut the sliders apart with a chef’s knife.
  8. Serve and enjoy! If you’re using up leftovers, a side of potatoes or cranberry sauce goes nicely with these sliders. If you’re not eating this around the holidays, a bag of chips is a nice crunchy side for these tasty sliders!
